On the 21st day of August 2014 we are celebrating the birthday of Jesus in Cross Timbers State Park at Toronto, Kansas. This location has one of the better dark sky areas in the Midwest and we are hoping to view the constellation of Sagittarius and the Milky Way, 15:3.3
The main topic for the celebration will be reviewing and contributing to the Top Ten reasons to work for The Kingdom of Heaven.
The Park is located a short one hour drive east of Wichita and about three hours drive southwest of Kansas City. The remoteness gives a better opportunity to more clearly view the night sky.
August is one of the hottest months in Kansas and the humidy can be a challenge. Also you need to be prepared for insects on a hot and humid Kansas night.
A daily six dollar motor vehicle permit is required to enter the State Park. We have reserved a few air conditioned cabins in the Park and full RV hookups and tent camping is available. The town of Toronto has no accommodations and only one restaurant with limit hours. Woodson County Seat, Yates Center, is twelve miles to the east of the lake with a couple locally owned motels, a few small restaurants and a grocery.

Looks great guys, thanks!
Hi Kenny ~ Great seeing you in Alaska for the solstice camp-out. Hope to be down in your neck of the woods for this Jesus B-Day Celebration …. thanks for putting it on and encouraging the younger readers to attend. I’m working on my top ten list 🙂 Should be a good time!
What a sensation! The sky was clear, Sagittarius was magnificent and the Milky Way was so staggering all we could do was lay on the ground and count the shooting-stars. Thank you each and everyone for a everlastingly grand time.
