IT Round Table 2012

2012 has been quite the year for me full of traveling and evangelizing. I have spent a lot of my time on the road, attending events, meeting people, and discovering the Urantia community I love so much. Now that I’m on the home stretch of this year I can look back and reflect on what has been accomplished.

Being in Chicago for the IT round table was a very rewarding use of my time. Seeing as how this was the first year I had attended, though the third time its been held, I wasn’t sure what to expect or how to prepare.

Participating in the round table was a great chance to not only look over the work that has been accomplished by myself but by our committee and our community at large. No doubt amazing work is being done for the revelation in the area of translations, search engines, and Brotherhood.

The premise of the IT round table is to bring together all the organizations inside our community, that being The Urantia Foundation, The Urantia Book Fellowship, and Urantia Association International (UAI) for the opportunity to share our different projects and discover ways to work together in partnership for the revelation through the medium of Information Technology’s.

Many of the presentations were about the progress being made around how The Urantia Foundation is translating the book. They have new software that has tremendously excelled their ability to work on translations with a high level of integrity. The Fellowship and the UAI are currently in the process of building new websites but neither gave presentations about the progress. I was there to represent Urantia Now and the work of our group to bring this community up to speed with the fast moving media world.

I presented a PowerPoint presentation about the progress of Urantia Now and how I see it best serving our community in 2013.

Mo Seigel was the chair of this event. Moe was a gracious host for the Foundation, and a very focused participant in all our discussions. I noticed that Moe made it a point to focus on how important it is that we continue to focus on the brotherhood we are called to hold high. I genuinely felt his desire to make this goal a reality. It is surely an important part of what makes our community strong and positioned to meet the task of preparing the revelation for the 21st century. As the revelation reminds us,

“Brotherhood constitutes a fact of relationship between every personality in universal existence. No person can escape the benefits or the penalties that may come as a result of relationship to other persons. The part profits or suffers in measure with the whole. The good effort of each man benefits all men; the error or evil of each man augments the tribulation of all men. As moves the part, so moves the whole. As the progress of the whole, so the progress of the part”.

We as believers in the living truth at this very moment are being met with a great challenge. The world as we know it, and the way we communicate, changed more in five years then in the previous 500. The workers for the cause of bringing the good news to the world are blessed with tools to share our message like never before. In our breakout session we talked about this and where we need to focus our energy and resources.

I’m hopeful that through meetings like this we can begin to see the big picture of what we are being called to accomplish. There are going to be hundreds of thousands of Truthseekers looking for answers online and we have the task to meet them there and share the transformation these teachings have brought to our lives.

If you have an Iphone and don’t yet have The Urantia Book download it here. The Android app should be out after the first of the year!
