Teuvo comes through…

Our community was blessed to have Teuvo come through on his “Evangelist for the Urantia Book” tour last week.  His 4-day stay with me included a spontaneous UB gathering where he shared the purpose of his mission – to stimulate interest and outreach in the Urantia community including creating additional societies.   One evening Tev, Frieda Friendentia, and I dined at the local Mexican restaurant.  Over the jubilant cancionistas we enjoyed relating with Tev some of our 40 years of jaw-dropping Urantia experiences in California and Oregon.

The next evening Tev was recapping an exchange at Starbucks where he engaged a pleasant interaction with a cool and down-low young pastor and left him with a UB sticker to ponder.  It occurred to me that it might be Adam, the emergent Presbyterian I know from Ashland.  Tev looked him up on the FB and sure enough, “That’s HIM!”  Ya gotta love how the angels engage synchronicity … and Teuvo is giving them lots to do.

So we decided to attend his church the next day.  Adam was pleasantly surprised to see Tev, and then me – with the expected double-take!   We attended the Marcus Borg Adult Education discussion hosted by Adam, sharing our views on the topic. (A few Theology Pub peeps were there who I’d met the previous week.)  Chatting at the end of service, Tev said a few more words about the value of the Jesus papers, and Adam was curious how we knew each other.  “The Urantia Book.”  “Ahhhh.”   This young man is very progressive in his thinking and his attempts to inspire his church, but it’s evident he is under much pressure.  We have no idea how he will take to the Urantia Book, though being the techy he is, I’m sure he’s looked into it.  I have not seen Adam since but plan to attend the next Theology  Pub when I return from out of town.  It’s so very stimulating interacting and interjecting concepts with the progressive discussions arising in my community.

Over those four days I could see how formidable Tev was in his easy-going engaging outreach style.  His ability to read people plays a major role in how he presents his information.  And he is relentless in his passion for spreading the good news, and for pulling others into the vortex.  As for this one, Teuvo is beguiling me to offer some articles on the Progressive Emergent phenomena, which I shall be offering soon.  Let’s hope he’s coming to a town nearby — you should be so blessed to have this dynamic young evangelist sweep you up “as he passes by”.

Spread the word ❤
