A Report from Portland

We have been attending the Portland BMSE more frequently than other expos. This expo occurs in the spring and the fall each year. To me it seems that much of what is presented by other vendors is like tidbits and crumbs compared to what we can offer folks. The thought that occurred to me was “Where’s the beef?”, and I realized, we are the “beef” offering real spiritual substance.

A true feeling of community emerged during the weekend and many wonderful exchanges happened. First thing, a man that bought a book a couple years ago stopped at the booth and was delighted to discover there was a local study group. He showed up at the meeting on Sunday afternoon. One gal came over and bought two books and was jumping up and down with joy about the UB. Someone finally said to her that she was on the wrong side of the table and should be in the booth helping us. She and another gal that bought a book will be starting a study group in Vancouver Wa. Then two ladies who live in a spiritually focused, twelve person community came by. I had sold (or given) them the Jesus a New Revelation book at the last expo. They reported gleefully that they had read it cover to cover. They were just beaming with light. They wanted to buy more copies, however we had sold the three copies I had brought with me so they requested that I mail them four copies.

The presentation I gave on Saturday was very well received. Aurora said it was my best talk ever. Eighteen expo attendees were present at the talk and many came to the booth to buy a book as a result of their experience. We sold 33 UB’s and 7 JANR for a total of 40 books distributed. Looking forward to returning to Portland in the spring.

  2. The UB is filled with calls to service, and we are repeatedly taught the many benefits of living a life of service. I always want to do more outreach work and would if funding was available to cover some of the expenses. As it is we have to carefully choose which events to go to that will fit into our budget.

In 2012 the Outreach Committee’s work including the FreeBook card program placed 740 books into the hands of truth seekers. If we could get sponsors to cover booth and transportation costs we could get that number up to 2000 per year before long.

“The call to the adventure of building a new and transformed human society by means of the spiritual rebirth of Jesus’ brotherhood of the kingdom should thrill all who believe in him as men have not been stirred since the days when they walked about on earth as his companions in the flesh.”

The world is so hungry right now. We just need to show up and share the good news.
